Police arrest rapist of minor girl in Arunachal

Itanagar: West Siang district police in Arunachal Pradesh, has arrested a person in connection with continuously raising the modesty of a minor girl at Aalo, the district headquarters, for the last five months. Liku Dolley (40) was arrested on December 9 last for allegedly raping the minor girl for the last five months in the government quarter where she stays, police said informed on Wednesday. Dolley is the branch manager of Sriram Life Insurance Company at Aalo who in the last five months was in search of customers for enrolment in insurance schemes. In the process, he came across the girl and raped her repeatedly in the absence of her family members, police said.

Police arrested Dolley basing on a FIR lodged in the Aalo Police Station and a case has been registered against him under various sections of law.

Meanwhile, the West Siang unit of Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) has vehemently condemned the incident and appealed the district administration and police not to enlarge him on bail and instead give stringent punishments as per relevant section of law so that such crime against women and child do not surface again.
