Police Arrests 'Gang of Five' for stealing two IMFL loaded trucks from Guwahati

Golaghat: Gang of five people was arrested by Crime Branch and Golaghat Police on Thursday. As per reports, the gang was involved in stealing two trucks carrying 1000 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 20 to 40 lakh from Guwahati on March 6.

Police report claims that the gang of five stole the trucks from Guwahati and travelled towards Jorhat and sold them later at Silonijan area in Karbi Anglong.

The gang of five includes- Abhijit Bora, Raju Ali, Raja Kalita, Amjad Khan and Chumki Hathibaruah.

Mastermind of the Gang, Abhijit Bora and his two other accomplices Raju Ali alias Samsudin Ahmed and Raja Kalita were involved in stealing the trucks from Guwahati to Jorhat.

Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch along with Golaghat Police arrested the trio on Friday.

Based on their confession police arrested another member of the gang Amjad Khan and Chumki Hathibaruah for the storing the IMFL cartons under their possession.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered in connection to the incident.

Further police investigation is on.
