SHILLONG, July 4: Nearly week after two men suspected to be militants were gunned down at Radigre, North Garo Hills, none of their kith and kin have come forward to claim their bodies. The two were killed in a joint raid carried out by the State police and Goalpara based Dogra Rifles at a plantation area.

Although they were initially suspected to be cadres of the Garo hills based militant outfit known as the Achik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF), the Police have failed to establish the actual identity of the two slain men and their actual association with the militant outfit.

The AMEF in a release to a section of newspapers has denied that the two youths belong to the outfit. The outfit’s press release termed them as ‘innocent villagers’, but stop short from identifying them.

Even the villagers of Radigre could not identify the duo and the perplex police could not ascertain their mes, village of the suspected militants who were killed. Asked on this, a senior police official said that the investigation is on, even as he refrained from replying any further question.

With no claimants, the body of the two, said to be militants were buried after completing the post mortem.
