Dibrugarh, October 23: The Police Commemoration Day was observed at the Unit headquarters of 171 Bn Reserve Police Line recently and the ceremony was graced by Commandant 171 Bn CrPF, Jagdish Prasad Pangal.
Jagdish Prasad Pangal, in his speech, recalled the gallant sacrifices of the CRPF personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, while guarding the tiol frontiers at Hot Springs in north-eastern Ladakh, in a face-off with the Chinese Army in the year 1959. Pangal also remembered other police personnel who had been killed on duty while fighting for their motherland. Talking further, Pangal stated that the bravery and resultant sacrifices of the police personnel across the country against odds was an embodiment of the rarest of the rare courage. The unit even reminisced the martyrdom of CRPF personnel of the district, CT / GD Jeevan Saikia of Madhupur Paroliguri Gaon and Ct. W/M Balmukund of Amolapatty Guard Quarters, who had down their lives in the line of duty while being posted in 06 Bn CRPF at Punjab and 63 Bn CRPF at Srigar respectively.
The unit paid their homage by organizing a memorial function at Madhupur Uccha Madhyamik Vidyalaya and Amolapatty Harijan Hindi Primary School from where the martyrs Jeevan Saikia and Balmukund had done their schooling.
In the commemorative function, token of remembrance was presented to the relatives of the two martyrs in presence of D/C Khekato Aye and D/C R.K. Tomar, Principal, teachers and students of the schools.
The function concluded by paying tribute to the brave martyrs and their family members.
