Police conduct search in city parghats

GUWAHATI, July 30: The City Police yesterday carried a search operation in the parghats of the Brahmaputra and Umanda island and found a number of bikes being ferried to and from North Guwahati without proper documents. The police fined the owners of the bikes. The police drive along the river side is being carried out with the Independence Day celebrations approaching. This apart, after the militants’ attack in Punjab, red alert has been sounded in Assam. The drive was led by ACP Panjit Duarah. According to Fancy Bazar police station i/c Pankaj Mahanta, the search operation will continue along the river side.
