Police crackdown on drug peddlers in Goalpara

Goalpara, Sept 10: With a view to curtail drug addiction among youths, the newly appointed Superintendent of Police, Goalpara,  Amitava Sinha has directed the different police stations to carry out drives against drugs peddlers in the district.  On Friday, following the direction, the local police launched an operation in the town and apprehended one Babul Ghosh of Goaltuli village. Police recovered from him a huge cache of banned tablets popularly used by the addicted youths. On the same day, a team under the supervision of Town police, recovered country liquor from one resh Das of village 2 no. Colony. People have expressed satisfaction over the initiative taken by the new SP. Amitava Sinha has also emphasized building healthy relationship between police and public to check crime in the society. As part of the venture, he arranged on Friday a Police-Public Peace Committee meeting at Baguan under the Baguan police station.
