Police for more CCTV cameras in Shillong

SHILLONG, Sept 6: In the wake of the recent murder of a 36-year-old woman vendor, identified as Anja Sinha, at Police Bazar, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) City Vivek Syiem on Wednesday said the police will soon install more CCTV cameras in different parts of the capital city. Sinha was murdered on 3rd September in Police Bazar around 1 am. “The vendors and hawkers should be alert and extra careful since they conduct their businesses till the early hours,” Syiem told reporters here today. He informed the media that the police are still alysing the footages from the CCTV cameras to avail more information. He added, “The police have submitted its proposal to the State government to install 30 more CCTV cameras in various important locations of the city.” With the installation of more CCTV cameras in the city, it will ultimately help the police in dealing with various such cases, he added. The SP was also of the opinion that the shopkeepers who install CCTV cameras should take the assistance of the police when it comes to the positioning of their cameras.
