Police investigate Bangkok blast suspect's travel papers

Bangkok, September 28: Police were seeking the passport of a Thai woman who was found to have rented a room for the Bangkok shrine blast suspects, the media reported on Monday.

A formal request has been submitted to the foreign ministry to consider revoking Wan Suansan’s passport after she failed to contact authorities either in Thailand or abroad to defend herself against claims of her involvement in the August 17 blast which killed 20 people, police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri said on Sunday.

Investigators probing the case found Wan had rented a room at the Maimu Garden Home apartment in Bangkok’s Min Buri district where bomb-making materials were discovered, The Bangkok Post reported citing the spokesman.

Emrah Davutoglu, Wan’s Turkish husband, was found to have received money transferred from another key suspect, Abdul Tawab, a 40-year-old Pakistani tiol. The money was linked to funding for the bombing, according to the investigators. The couple has still not contacted authorities and their whereabouts are still unknown, Prawut said. A previous police probe found Wan, her husband and their infant left Thailand for Turkey via Phuket on July 1. (IANS)
