Police officer 'abandons' old mother

From a Correspondent

PATHSALA, June 10: A mother’s love is something that no one can explain. It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain, it is endless, selfless and enduring. In Barbang-Maskhuapara village near Pathsala of Bajali subdivision, 80-year old Moti Choudhury is living in a miserable condition. She has to struggle for her food. Once she takes food in the morning, she remains on an empty stomach for the rest of the day and sometimes her neighbours feed her.

The woman has a son, Arabinda Choudhuary, who is a police officer and ? who did not take his mother’s responsibility. He left his mother and is living a good life with his wife and daughter at Basugaon in Chirang district.

The neighbours said that the son rarely visited her and when he did, he would mentally and physically torture her. He had, however, not visited her for the past one year. Helpless, the poor mother is contemplating going to an old-age home.

The people of the area have questioned whether the government would take any step against this police officer who abandoned his mother at this old age. They also wondered how a police officer could protect the people if he could not protect and take care of his mother.
