Police officer dies, Havildar commits suicide

JAGIROAD/SORI, April 18: An Assistant Police Inspector (Traffic) of Jagiroad Police Station here died of a cardiac arrest this morning. API Ranju Bora (45) passed away today at around 6.00 am at his residence at Markangkuchi village here.  Bora, who hailed from Barhampur in gaon district, left behind his wife and two children. The untimely demise of the popular police official was widely mourned here.  In a separate incident, a police official today allegedly committed suicide at his residence at Sori in Sivasagar district. Police sources said Havildar Gakul Ch Bora (50), who was posted at Charaideu District Jail at Sori, hanged himself at his residence today at around 11.00 am.  A tive of Kalugaon in Sivasagar district, Bora left behind his wife and two sons. His body has been sent to Sivasagar Civil Hospital for postmortem. Police said that the matter was being investigated.
