Police officers of Hailakandi felicitated for getting DGP Commendation Medal

Hailakandi, October 5: Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Moloy Bora congratulated two police officers of Hailakandi district for being bestowed upon the prestigious DGP Commendation Silver Medal for outstanding service on the occasion of Assam Police Day.

At a felicitation function organized at his office conference room on Tuesday, DC Bora said it was a happy moment that two officers from a backward district like Hailakandi had been bestowed upon the prestigious DGP Commendation Medal for excellent service, stated a press release. “We feel elated and proud of the achievements of the two young police officers.  Indeed their achievements will not only boost their morale and confidence but also inspire and motivate other officers to work with renewed zeal and vigour in the days ahead,” he said.

Bora also thanked the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and the DGP for selecting  the officers for the award in recognition of their dedication and sincerity. Extolling the services of personnel of Assam Police for protecting the lives and property of the people, Bora said, “The police personnel have to work day in and day out in maintence of law and order and many personnel laid down their lives in the line of duty. I salute them for their commendable and painstaking efforts in maintaining peace and security.”

Bora also asked the police officers and personnel to remain alert at all times due to escalated tensions exacerbated by exterl aggression, sneaking of extremist elements from across the border, drugs trafficking and emerging new challenges.  In the same breath, the DC asked the police personnel of the district to be on their toes in view of ensuing Durga Puja and Muharram festivals.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Prabjyoti Goswami said it augured well for the two officers that the recognition they got at the very beginning of their career would help them to stand in good stead in the days to come.  Goswami hoped that the recognition would provide them the impetus to work with more sincerity and dedication in the service of the people.

DSP, Faiz Ahmed Barbhuiya, while thanking the DC for honouring him by organizing the felicitation programme, said he would not have achieved the award without the support from the seniors and the subordites. “I would like to dedicate this medal to all my seniors for guiding me all along and juniors for assisting me and without whom I would not have achieved the feat,” he said.

OC Lala, Monirul Islam, in his brief address, said he had not even aspired for the award as he considered serving the people as his first and foremost duty. However, he was quick to add that the recognition would inspire and motivate him to work with more sincerity and dedication. He also dedicated the award to all his seniors and juniors terming his achievement as teamwork.

CEO, Zilla Parishad Hailakandi, Barenya Das also lauded the good work of the police officers and wished them success in all their future endeavours.

The felicitation function was attended, among others, by ADC, Ruth Lienthang, ADC, Amalendu Roy and Circle Officer, James Aind.
