Police personnel awarded on Assam Police Day for meritorious performance

 Hailakandi, Oct 1: Along with the rest of the State, Assam Police Day, 2016 was observed in a befitting manner in Hailakandi.

Addressing the police personnel after unfurling the flag, Superintendent of Police Prabjyoti Goswami, exhorted the police personnel to work with utmost sincerity and dedication in the service of the people, stated a press release. Goswami said that the police must create awe in the minds of law breakers and reverence in those who are law-abiding citizens. The SP called upon the personnel to be always on vigil and to act swiftly against the nefarious designs of anti-social elements out to create disturbance in society. “The first and foremost duty of the police is to protect the life and property of the people and the best way to do it is by instilling security and confidence in them,” he added.

 Earlier, the SP inspected the guard of honour on the occasion. In the evening, a colourful cultural programme was held at Rabindra Bhavan where children of the police personnel put up sterling dance and song shows, much to the delight of the audience. SP’s office, Police Reserve and other important establishments were illumited.

Certificates were also given away by the SP to some police personnel for meritorious performance. OC Hailakandi PS Surajit Choudhury was awarded for his prowess in investigation leading to breakthrough in several crimes, OC Lala PS Monirul Islam for recovery of stolen items against property related crimes, SI K. Singsong for counter insurgency operations, ASI Muzharul Islam Laskar for execution of work related to non-bailable warrants and constable Sandip th for his adroit handling of official work relating to court summons.  As part of Assam Police Day celebrations, the district police administration organized slogan writing contest on ill-effects of drugs for school children on September 15, followed by plantation of saplings at Basic Training Centre campus and Fire and Emergency Station on September 28, a quiz competition amongst police personnel on the same day, a friendly football match between Hailakandi District Police Team and local team at DSA ground on September 29 and a blood dotion camp on September 30 in association with Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors’ Forum. The man who organized the series of events successfully is Additiol Superintendent of Police (HQ) Rajmohan Ray.
