Police personnel undergo training in social defence

Itagar, Jan 8: The Aruchal Pradesh Police (APP) in collaboration with the New Delhi-based tiol Institute of Social Defence conducted a three-day State level training programme on social defence.
The training programme was conducted for middle-level APP functiories at the Police Training Centre (PTC) at Banderdewa here from January 4 to 6.
Altogether 40 police personnel from various districts participated in the social defence training, covering various social issues related to women, children, old persons, drug abuse and juvenile delinquency, an official release stated.
The trainees also visited the Oju Mission Welfare Association and were briefed on various social welfare activities undertaken by the NGO.
Earlier, addressing the iugural session, PTC Principal Surendra Choudhary briefed on the importance of social issues and the way to redress those issues.
IGP bin Payeng spoke on various social problems prevalent in the society, pertaining to women and children, and on the rising drug abuse in the State. Emphasizing the role of the civil society in crime prevention, he sought cooperation from each and everyone in making the society crime-free.
Resource persons from the High Court, Papum Pare District Legal Services Authority, Rajiv Gandhi University, Women and Child Development Department, and also from the Guwahati-based rcotics Control Bureau imparted training to the participants.
