Police raid Golaghat municipality office

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Oct 27:  A team of police officials led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Golaghat launched a raid in the office of the Golaghat Municipality Board (GMB) on Friday. According to DSP Partha Protim Saikia, the raid was conducted following case no. 715/17 US 420/406 IPC filed by a RTI activist med Dulal Bora against former chairman and present chairman of Golaghat Development Authority, Dr. Ajit Baruah for alleged corruption of public money. The RTI activist also alleged that during the term of the former GMB chairman, large-scale anomalies took place in implementing developmental schemes. Further, he said that all official record books, bank passbook, tax and revenue related documents were seized for further investigation.
