Police release PSG player Aurier

Paris, May 31: Paris police have released football club Paris Saint-Germain’s Ivoirian defender Serge Aurier after he was arrested following a street fight. Aurier, 23, was apprehended as he was leaving a night club next to the Champs Elysees Avenue in Paris early on Monday. The player was involved in an altercation with members of the anti-crime brigade as he was leaving the club in his luxury car with tinted windows and Belgian car plates, while the exact circumstances of the incident are yet to be confirmed.

According to France Info radio, a policeman testified that Aurier was defiant to the agent who stopped the car, before he pushed and punched the policeman.

Le Parisien reported that the player did not get physical with the policeman and claimed that he was injured while being apprehended before he was taken to the police station, where a complaint was filed against him. Aurier was sanctioned by PSG last February for a video posted on social media websites in which he insulted his coach Laurent Blanc and a number of his PSG peers. IANS
