Police reviews law-and-order situation in West Garo Hills

SHILLONG, Feb 20: In view of the unfortute incident at Williamgar, East Garo Hills, the Police Observer for West Garo Hills District Bhava Saxe along with General Observer Harjeet Singh today reviewed the law and order situation in the district with all the political parties and contesting candidates at Circuit House, Tura.

Saxe while reviewing the situation in terms of security informed the candidates and their agents that the election machinery is doing its best to monitor the present situation and connect with more intelligence inputs and also in touch with the Border Security Forces with regard to movement of militants in border areas. She also requested the candidates to inform immediately if there is any threat or any suspicious movement in their respective areas.

The Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills District Dr. R Kumar assured that he is committed to look upon the concerns of the candidates and also to provide security personnel to all the candidates in the district.

The District Election Officer, West Garo Hills, Ram Singh said that meeting was held in order to reassess any threat to the candidates of the district and informed that the administration has intensified area domition, patrolling, checking of vehicles amongst others and urge them to cooperate for conducting free and fair election in the district.

Considering the incident, the Candidates and their agents have placed their request for additiol security while highlighting few sensitive polling stations in their respective constituencies.
