SHILLONG, Sept 13: Following the alleged suicide case where a woman had jumped from the roof of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regiol Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) building on Tuesday, rumours are now circulating that the case is related to the infamous Blue Whale game. However, the police on Wednesday stated that the case is still under investigation and nothing can be confirmed vis-à-vis the actual cause of the incident. “Whether it is a case of Blue Whale or not is yet to be confirmed. The case is still under investigation,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Davis N Marak said. Stating that the woman had jumped from the roof of NEIGRIHMS building, he, however, added that nothing can be ascertained, whether it is a case of Blue Whale or not. “We will, however, investigate the case to ascertain the actual cause of the incident,” he said. When asked whether there was a lapse on the part of the NEIGRIHMS administration like how the woman had easily gained access to the roof of the hospital, he said, “Whether it was a case of negligence from the part of the administration of the hospital or the private security agency, everything will be investigated and, if required, we will also be issuing notices to them as to how this had happened.” Marak said once the investigation is complete, the police will take up necessary action based on the findings.
