Police SI commits suicide

SHILLONG, July 6: A police sub-inspector of Meghalaya police, identified as Madan Basumatry (56) committed suicide at his official residence in Shillong Police reserve on Monday. According to the Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem, his body was noticed at around 9.30 am on Monday. Basumaatary is understood to have been down with depression after he was arrested and suspended for his alleged involvement in a molestation case that took place inside the police reserve.
