Dhaka, Oct 8: Police have been given three days to question Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain in a case in which he and his wife stand accused of physically torturing their minor housemaid, the media reported on Thursday.

The fast bowler surrendered to the court on October 5, a day after police arrested his wife Jesmin Jahan, reported.

The court had then sent him to jail. The next day, police pleaded for a seven-day remand.

On Thursday, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Yousuf Hossain rejected Shahadat’s bail plea and granted the law enforcers three days for interrogating him.

In September, the cricketer filed a police complaint claiming that his housemaid had gone missing.

But several hours later, the 11-year-old girl surfaced to accuse the cricketer and his wife of regular torture. IANS
