Police to step up vigil ahead of Christmas

SHILLONG, Dec 15: The Shillong police will step up vigil in the city in view of the Christmas and New Year celebration so that unruly people cannot create nuisance in public places. The police reveled that during the month of October and November; as many as 126 persons were picked up by Shillong police for consuming alcohol in public places and creating nuisance. SP of East Khasi Hills, M Kharkrang said that they were arrested and forwarded to Court which realized a total fine of Rs. 3, 53, 000.  “The maximum number of cases was detected by Sadar police station in the run up to Christmas and New Year celebration, and we will step up our vigil against such nuisance,” he said.
