Police yet to interrogate former B'desh minister

SHILLONG, May 14: Meghalaya Police could not interrogate the arrested former Bangladesh Minister and Bangladesh tiolist Party (BNP) leader Salahuddin Ahmed as he is suffering from heart related ailments.
“We have not been able to question him because he is under medication for heart ailments,” stated the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Mariahom Kharkrang, while confirming that Ahmed is a “wanted” man in Bangladesh. The SP also disclosed about the arrival of his family members to peruse on the case of his appearance in Shillong and subsequent arrest. Nothing definite is known about the crimil charges against Ahmed. He was arrested and is under custody on the basis of an Interpol alert, stated Kharkrang, adding that his disappearance from Bangladesh and appearance in Shillong will be known after questioning. A section of the Bangladesh media has also arrived in Shillong to follow up the case, especially when a case has been registered about his alleged abduction in March this year. Till filing of this report, the Bangladesh Embassy has not communicated back to the State Police on the contour in dealing with the former Bangladesh minister. Since his arrest, Ahmed is being kept at the room of the under trial prisoner in Shillong Civil Hospital.
