Policeman engaged in MLA's security a drug addict

Shillong, Sept 12: Independent legislator from South Tura John Leslee K Sangma today informed the House that a gunman who was allotted for duty with him was a drug addict. Sangma made this revelation during the special motion brought by Nongkrem, MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit.

According to the legislator, the problem of drugs has spread even to the police organization.

“It has become an enemy within and police personnel are entrapped in the problem,” Sangma said.   He said that his driver was assaulted by the said policeman.

According to the South Tura legislator, he was informed by other police officials that the gunman allotted to him was using heroin and was a member of the SWAT.

“He was transferred hoping he will come out of it,” Sangma told the House.
