Political pension for members of Mottok royal families sought

TINSUKIA, March 13: The 9th central conference of Mottok Royal Family Unyan Samity (MRFUS) concluded on Saturday with a day-long programme at Phulampur Bormghar at Lahowal in Dibrugarh district. The delegates from seven branches of the central committee unimously selected Hemanta Gohain and Saroj Gohain as president and general secretary respectively for the next five years and constituted a full-fledged committee of 41 members.

The delegate meeting adopted eight resolutions which included award of government prize in the me of Mottok king Sarbanda Singha, establishment of Sri Sri Anurudhadev rural university in a suitable place at Tinsukia-Dibrugarh district, construction of a museum in the me of King Sarbanda Singha and to award political preference to the members of Mottok royal family. The open session approved these resolutions in presence Dr Shristidhar Dutta, Jatin Gohain, Chandra Sepati and other dignitaries with Hemanta Gohain in the chair. The meeting called upon the government to award political pension to the members of Mottok royal families which the speakers in the meeting claimed to have enjoyed during the British rule.
