Political scerio warming up in Karbi Anglong

HOWRAGHAT, October 12: The Congress has started intensive campaign in the hill district of Karbi Anglong as the assembly elections draw close. To strengthen the party, public meetings and door-to door campaigns have kicked off since the few days under the leadership of Hills Area Development (HAD) Minister Kharsing Engti and  Tuliram Ronghang, CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC). On Monday, a large rally was organized in Jurapukhuri village near Howraghat town. The local Adivasi people in traditiol attires warmly welcomed HAD Minister Kharsing Engti, Tuliram Ronghang and local MAC and Social Welfare EM, KAAC, Premala Beypi. Various traditiol dances and songs were performed by the Adivasi youths to honour the dignitaries.

While, addressing the gathering, Tuliram Ronghang claimed that the Congress still had mass

people’s support in the State as well as in Karbi Anglong. Ronghang said that BJP was spreading false propaganda against the Congress among common people. Seeking public support, Ronghang urged to all to assist Congress to provide equal rights and equal facilities for the

people. Meanwhile, Ronghang declared to construct the Birsa Munda Memorial Hall and Children Park at Jurapukhuri soon. In his speech, HAD Minister, Kharsing Engti ironically attacked and criticized the BJP. Engti said that nothing had changed in the country, as promised by the rendra Modi-led BJP government.  He said that the BJP was selling false dreams to the people.

Engti also assured to solve the social problems of every community in the district gradually.

He determinedly said that unity was must for equal development and peace. Highlighting various government development schemes, Engti urged people to unitedly support the Congress. Kharsing Engti has been showing his political strength since many years at Howraghat. No Opposition candidate has been able to stch the Howraghat LA and MAC seat from Engti.
