Poll officials meeting held

ABHAYAPURI, April 8: A meeting was held today at the Town Hall here, which witnessed a huge participation of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Supervisors, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of the entire Sub-Division. This grand meeting was presided over by the District Election Officer cum SDO (Civil) of North Salmara, Abhayapuri, Saranga Pani Sharma. In the meeting instructions were revised and special instructions were also explained to the BLOs before they are ready for the zero hour. The SDO (Civil) said that a minimum amount of Rs. 200 will be presented to each BLO as a small stipulation for them to help them while they reach the polling station for lunch etc.

The Lot Mondals are also engaged in various types of activities like collection of stickers etc. to minimize the work load of the BLOs. In the meeting the BLOs were given all the materials which will be required by them like banners etc. while maging their duties.

Since the communication is very weak in the char areas, the BLOs should try their best to encourage them to exercise their franchise power was the opinion of the DEO.

The DEO confirmed that it will be a State Holiday in the day of polling. The DEO said that the BLOs who would be performing their best will be awarded an amount of Rs. 1000 each and about 20 BLOs will be awarded with that amount who will be able to bring the highest no. of voters, besides a certificate of merit to each of them for their hard work but that certificate will be given to all the BLOs on May 21, at 1:00 P.M. during the daytime.

It was then informed that there are three polling stations where the entire human resource would be filled up by women officials mely Abhayeshwari Higher Secondary School and Abhayapuri College will be venues for the following. The differently-abled and senior citizens will be given special consideration and hence wheelchairs will be provided where this category of people are available and senior citizens who will be casting their vote will be felicitated with a gamocha .
