Pollard, Bravo left out of Windies WC squad

St. John’s, Jan 11: The West Indies selectors have excluded experienced campaigners Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard from the side’s squad for the 2015 cricket World Cup, sticking with the controversial decision that saw both players also dumped for the ongoing South Africa series. Both all–rounders, with 255 One–Day Intertiols (ODI) between them, were the notable omissions from the 15–man squad announced Saturday by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), reports CMC.

The squad will be led by rookie seamer Jason Holder, who was also med the skipper for the five–match series against South Africa, with selectors making the surprising move to appoint Marlon Samuels as vice–captain.

The squad: Jason Holder (captain), Marlon Samuels (vice–captain), Sulieman Benn, Darren Bravo, Jothan Carter, Sheldon Cottrell, Christopher Gayle, Sunil rine, Denesh Ramdin, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Jerome Taylor. IANS
