Polling officers undergo training for autonomous council election

Lakhimpur, Dec 5: In view of the forthcoming Thengal Kachari-Deori Autonomous Council election, the district administration has taken the initiative to provide training through the master trainers to all the polling officers and presiding officers in Lakhimpur district. The training was given in the Deputy Commissioner’s office building. Around 250 presiding officers and polling officers were provided training on Monday.

In the training programme, the officers were told in detail about the functioning of the voting machines and trained in exchange of information using computers and monitoring election activities through the internet.

“A discussion was held among the master trainers and BD Sarmah, Additiol Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Lakhimpur in regard to the training. All the necessary information in regard to the election, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) has been provided to all the polling officers and presiding officers. Guidelines for the use and functioning of EVMs have been explained and demonstrated to all the election duty officers. The officers have been strictly ordered to check Voter Identity Cards and Voter Slips and maintain a presiding officer’s diary for all official records related to the forthcoming elections in the Lakhimpur district.

The district administration has been monitoring all the activities related to the forthcoming Thengal Kachari-Deori autonomous election for smooth conduct and conclusion of the election in the Lakhimpur district. All the officers have been asked to fill up the necessary documents properly for the official records,” said Sanjib Kr. Baruah, Jansanyog (DIPR) public relation officer.

He further said that all the security arrangements had been made across the district and many police officials had been trained especially for the upcoming elections to provide tight security during the time of election in Lakhimpur district. The election officials were also asked to check all the 72 essential items which are required on the polling day.
