Polling officers undergo training for upcoming bypolls

Lakhimpur, November 7: In view of the forthcoming by-poll, the district administration took the initiative to provide training through the master trainers to all the polling officers in the Lakhimpur district recently.

Debeswar Malakar, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, persolly supervising the training programmes in all the training centres. The training was provided in the DICC and District Library of Lakhimpur.

In the training programme, the officers were told in detail about the functioning of the voting machines and trained on using computers and monitoring election activities through the internet.

“First polling officers and presiding officers have been provided training by the master trainers. All the necessary information regarding the election and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been provided to all the polling officers and presiding officers. Guidelines for the use and functioning of EVMs have been explained and demonstrated to all the election duty officers. The officers have been strictly ordered to check Voter Identity Cards and Voter Slips and maintain a presiding officer’s diary for all official records related to the forthcoming elections in Lakhimpur district,” the Deputy Commissioner told media persons.

“The district administration has been monitoring all the activities related to the forthcoming by-poll for smooth conduct and conclusion of the election in the Lakhimpur district. All the officers have been asked to fill up the 17 (A) documents properly for the official records,” he added.

He further said that all security arrangements had been made across the district and many police personnel had been trained especially for the upcoming elections to provide tight security during the time of election in Lakhimpur district.
