Polling peaceful in Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA, April 4: After first phase of polling, 75 per cent voter turnout was reported from Sadiya, while the corresponding figure for Margherita is 81.5 per cent, Digboi 83.3 per cent, Doomdooma 80 per cent and Tinsukia 75 per cent. The highest number of turnout was reported from Bogapani Panchyat Office polling station no 78 where the turnout was 90 per cent. In an unfortute incident, one Bidesh Munda (35) of Itakhuli block died due to severe heart attack inside the polling station at 105 Tingrai Labour Club and was declared brought dead when shifted to hospital. According to police sources, polling in Tinsukia district passed off peacefully without any untoward incident in any part of the district, including Sadiya police district.
