From our Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, June 15: A Public Interest Litigation was filed by Assam Yuva Parishad  secretary Sunil Rajkonwar against the Dibrugarh Division of tiol Highway Development Authority on Monday. Soon after filing the petition, Konwar told media persons that the dilapidated condition of the part of NH- 37 that falls in Upper Assam had resulted in frequent road accidents and subsequent death of innocent lives. The Ministers and MLAs who have been visiting this part of Assam, have always turned a blind eye towards the poor condition of the highway. The Central and State governments have failed to provide necessary funds towards the development of the highways. In spite of the efforts of several organizations in the last three years for securing funds for developing the highway, no step have been taken by the authority concerned whereas lakhs of public money are being granted yearly for the same.
