Poor condition of NH-37 road draws flak

DEMOW, Oct 9: The NH-37 is lying in a deplorable condition and The Sentinel has been continuously highlighting the pathetic condition of the NH-37 road. The big potholes have been creating serious problems for people. Due to the potholes, many accidents have taken place in the NH-37 road. The local organizations of Demow have protested several times against the poor road condition.
However, the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), Demow Regiol Committee had protested on July 12 in Demow at NH-37 road by planting shrubs in the big potholes of NH-37 road. After the protest, the potholes in Demow town area were properly repaired but the remaining potholes were not repaired, said a member of ATASU, Demow Regiol Committee.
 Concerned at the dilapidated road condition, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal had released a sum of money but till date the road has not been repaired. “So where has the money gone?” said Sumeet Kumar Handique, secretary of ATASU, Demow Regiol Committee. The ATASU Demow Regiol Committee threatened to launch an agitation unless the NH-37 road is repaired soon.
