Poor condition of RNB Hospital: ABSU demands probe

From our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, November 4: After the sorry state of affairs in RNB Civil Hospital of Kokrajhar was exposed, the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Kokrajhar district committee, on Wednesday expressed its concern and urged the district administration to check the functioning of the hospital so that the poor people of the region do not have to suffer any more.

In a press statement, the president of Kokrajhar district committee ABSU Premjit rzary and general secretary Neon Mashahary said the ‘corrupt’ administration of Kokrajhar RNB Civil Hospital was affecting the poor patients and this was highly condemble. They said as per information received, the hospital had acquired many latest types of equipments for advanced treatment, like ultra Sonography, ECG, X-ray machine and Laparoscopy machine but all these equipments were not being used and most of the times the doctors directly ask the  attendants to take the patients to private laboratories for blood test, X-ray and other diagnosis. The patients also have to buy medicines from pharmacies outside the hospital.

The ABSU leaders said that free treatment was not being given in Kokrajhar RNB Civil Government Hospital and it indicated that medicines supplied by the government were being sold off as all patients are forced to buy all the medicines and surgical equipments from pharmacies outside.

The ABSU has strongly urged the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, the BTC and State Government to take necessary steps for magisterial inquiry and to release the report publicly in the media.
