Poor deserving students 'deprived' of free admission

From a Correspondent
Tezpur, July 3: Introduction of free admission in colleges by the State Government for the students of families whose yearly income is less than Rs 1 lakh is definitely a dymic policy for the poor people. But, now the policy has turned into a blessing in disguise for the economically sound people who always look for undue advantages and with regard to free admission in colleges for the students of poor families, they are arranging their income certificate of less than Rs 1 lakh annually by unfair means. To discuss major anomalies in connection with free admission in Rangapara College, the aggrieved poor guardians of Rangapara under Sonitpur district exchanged their views as allegedly rich people are getting their children admitted in the Rangapara College by producing counterfeit income certificates of less than Rs 1 lakh yearly, thereby depriving poor deserving students from getting admission in the college. The conscious citizens of Rangapara appealed for proper judiciary investigation and also demanded for persol interference of the State Education Minister to ensure the efficient mechanism of the government’s policy. Further, a noted social worker of Rangapara, Swar Kamal Benerjee has urged the government to take appropriate remedial measures to eradicate irregularities and anomaly in the field of education as a top priority else the future of the deserving students of the poor families will be at stake and they will be deprived from higher education for want of privileges extended by the government as welfare measures.
