Poor performance in HSLC exam in Silchar

Silchar, May 31: Cachar district has performed poorly in this year’s Board of Secondary Education High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examition. The results have been declared on Wednesday. Out of 20,780 candidates, only 32.49% have been able to pass the examition. This dismal show in the district has sent waves of shock among all. In Karimganj district, out of 11741 candidates, only 32.89% could pass while in Hailakandi district, out of 6549 candidates, 38.71% got pass mark. In Cachar district, 1822 students got 1st division, 2877 got 2nd division and 2053 got 3rd division marks. In Karimganj district, 1101 students got 1st division, 1795 got 2nd division and 966 got 3rd division marks. In the district of Hailakandi, 793 students got 1st division, 1046 got 2nd division and 696 got 3rd division marks.

 Daffodils School, Silchar has brought laurels to the town. With 100% pass percentage, this school has proved their mettle. Out of 41 appeared, 33 students got 1st division, 7 students got distinction marks, 8 students scored star marks there were 96 letter marks. Daisy Pathak with 95.5% marks, got 100 in Mathematics and Advanced Mathematics and Shubhodeep Purkayastha secured 92.8%. Both of them got letter marks in 6 subjects. Another feather in the School’s cap was Aman Kumar Kurmi’s extraordiry performance. He being a handicapped boy had to spend his precious 6 months in Vellore and Cheni for treatment in the Xth standard itself. He got only 6 months for studying. Aman Kumar Kurmi got 66% marks with letter marks in English and Computer Science. He aspires to be a CA. Both Daisy Pathak and Shubhodeep Purkayastha want to go for Science stream.
