Positive start for Assam

GUWAHATI, Jan 9: Assam made a good start against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Marchent Trophy U-16 knock out round match in Bangaluru today. The side first restricted Uttar Pradesh to 150 in their first innings and later finished the first day’s play scoring 71-1 in their first innings. The star of the day was Assam bowler Jitumoni Kalita who bagged 6-35 in the first innings and forced Uttar Pradesh to bowl out in a small total. Later Riyan Parag took the batton from Jitumoni and displayed a good show with his bat. The opener remained not on 53 at stumps.
