Postal employees stage protest

Silchar, Oct 21: A number of organizations—tiol Federation of Postal Employees, Federation of tiol Postal Organizations, All India Postal Employees’ Union (GDS – NFPE) and tiol Union of Gramin Dak Sevak (FNPO) jointly submitted a memorandum stating a 3-point charter of demands to the Senior Superintendent of Cachar Division, last Thursday.

The demands included, grant of enhanced bonus of Rs.7000 to Gramin Dak Sevaks from the fincial year 2014-2015 in accordance with departmental employees, payments of arrears of revised wages from January 1, 2006 (6th CPC arrears) and from January 1, 2016 (7th CPC arrears) to causal, part time and contingent employees and daily wage earners and enhanced bonus to causal labourers along with the revision TRCA to the GDS employees.

 The members of the organization also staged a protest demonstration in front of the office of the Senior Superintendent of Cachar division last Thursday as per the direction of the Postal Council of Action. The members further cautioned that they would launch demonstration on a large scale of their demands are not fulfilled shortly. Among others present on the day included Niam Uddin Laskar, divisiol secretary (AIPEU), D Brahmmachary, Jagadindu th and Dibakar Roy. They have also stated that all India strike will be organized by the postal department on November 9 and 10.
