Dibrugarh, April 28: The Postmaster of Phukanarkhat Post Office, Durlav Konwar, was apprehended by the police on charges of embezzlement on Friday night. The arrest came in after the public flagged the issue, levied accusations on Konwar of embezzling a hefty sum of money, and created a hue and cry. The accused was arrested from his residence at Phukanarkhat village by the Rohmariya police. As learnt, the police was trying to nab the culprit for the past few days after allegations against him were made for the first time around a month back. But, unfortunately, their attempts did not fructify until this time. Moreover, in police custody, Konwar revealed some other names too, who according to him, were also a party to the crime. However, no substantive evidence was presented by him to the police till the time of filing this report.
