Potential major fire averted at Langsibu

KHERONI, March 17: A potential devastating fire incident was averted by alert villagers of Langsibu village under Kheroni police station in West Karbi Anglong on Thursday. The fire started from a sugarcane field which quickly spread towards the Langsibu village. A house was also gutted. But the conscious villagers, including children and women, quickly controlled the fire before more damaged could be caused. Three bighas of sugarcane field were reduced to ashes. The reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained.
