Power Minister's effigy burnt in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Aug 10: The members of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) Golaghat Town Committee  and Chutia Students’ Union of Golaghat subdivision committee burnt the effigy of State Power Minister Pallab Lochan Das on Thursday at Batapoint of Golaghat town for failing to improve the power department.

The activists of the organizations shouted various slogans against the BJP government and Electricity Department and burnt the effigy of the Power Minister.

In a press statement, president of AJYP town committee,  Mintu Gogoi and secretary of Chutia Students’ Union Golaghat subdivision committee, Pranjal Tamuli said that although more than 50 people lost their lives, the State Power Minister had not taken any steps to improve the power department.

 In the protest programme, AJYP town committee  secretary Abhijit Das, district secretary Nipon Gogoi and Golaghat Chutia Students’ Union president Mohen Bora were present.
