Power supply to Mechuka demanded

From our correspondent
Itagar, July 22: Claiming that Mechuka in West Siang district of Aruchal Pradesh has been reeling under darkness for the past five days, the Mechukha Sub-Division Youth Welfare Association (AMSDYWA) has demanded immediate restoration of power supply.
The association threatened to launch a stir if their demand is not met soon.
In a memorandum to the Mechuka ADC, the association said the main transformer in the town was damaged on the night of July 17, resulting in serious power failure in the picturesque town.
Coming down heavily on the department concerned for allegedly failing to restore power supply, the association alleged that the department had taken a lackadaisical approach towards the problem.
Also expressing strong resentment over erratic telecommunication services at Mechukha for the past     couple of weeks, the AMSDYWA requested the ADC to take up the matter with BSNL.
The association further urged the ADC to direct Bharti Airtel Telecommunications Company to immediately activate Airtel services at Mechuka. It claimed that the company had not started service despite installing a tower in the town a year ago.
