Power tillers distributed among farmers in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, January 20: In a major effort to boost the agriculture sector through scientific way of cultivation in BTC region, the Executive Member (EM) of Agriculture, BTC, Ansumwi Khungur Boro on Wednesday ceremonially distributed power tillers to the farmers of the region in presence of local MLA and former Agriculture Minister Pramila Rani Brahma and other high officials. The distribution ceremony of power tiller was held at the premises of Executive Engineering office of the Agriculture department, BTC.

EM Ansumwi Khungur Boro, after handing over the power tillers to the farmers, said before media persons that as many as 894 power tillers under Rastriya Krishi Vikash Yoj (RKVY) would be distributed in four BTC districts. He said 186 power tillers from RKVY in 2014-15 and 325 in 2015-16 and another 338 from 12.81pc BTC stake totalling 849 would be given to the farmers in the second installment. Besides, 45 power tillers under District Agriculture Officer (DAO) and ADAO of nine subdivisions would also be distributed. He also said Kokrajhar and Chirang districts would get 59 and 38 power tillers respectively in the second installment of the fincial year of 2014-15 and similarly, Baksa and Udalguri districts would get 38 and 51 power tillersĀ  respectively.

Boro said the farmers of BTC region would be benefitted through distribution of power tillers which would also be encouraging for cultivators to enhance their working capacities and productivities.
