Dibrugarh, April 5: The Assam State Power Workers’ Union (ASPWU) went on a State-wide protest against the alleged suppressing and exploitation policies of the chairman of Assam State Power Union (ASPU) on Wednesday.

The secretary of Dibrugarh unit of ASPU said that this protest movement was carried out in all the ASPU branch offices concerned of the State.

At the time when the Central and State governments have decided to release the revised pay scale, 2016 salary and other arrear amounts, the ibility of the government to pay the 2010 revised arrear salary amount to the employees and workers of the power sector, is a matter of deep regret, said Dibrugarh unit secretary of the union, Sukhen Gogoi.

The high-handedness of a few has pushed the power sector into bleakness even after crores of rupees are being sanctioned by the World Bank and other fincial institutions, Gogoi said. He added that the Union had decided to organize stringent protests in the coming days if the government failed to announce the sanction of arrear, interim allowances and the revised salary structure of 2016 before Rongali Bihu.

In this regard and against the alleged suppressive policies of the present chairman of the union, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister and the State Power Minister. All the power sector organizatiol branches have been asked to implement the protest and have also been directed to prepare themselves for a stern agitation in the coming days.
