Powerful IED recovered in Pengaree

DIGBOI, August 3: A team of Assam Police recovered a powerful IED weighing around 1.5 kg  from Torani Reserve forest adjacent to Goyal TE factory located along the Pengaree Bordumsa road on Wednesday evening. Talking to The Sentinel, the Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia, Mugdhajyoti Mahanta said that the IED must have been kept in the jungle by unidentified   miscreants to terrorize people on the eve of Independence Day.  Mahanta urged the people to remain vigilant and cooperate with the local police. A bomb squad team from Dinjan army station had been called to diffuse the bomb till the filing of the report. Meanwhile, security has tightened and combing operation has been intensified in the entire belt.
