PPA demands Pema Khandu’s resigtion

 From our correspondent

Itagar, Aug 14: Days after the BJP shed off its relationship with Peoples’ Party of Aruchal (PPA) as the alliance partner of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), the party on Monday stated that the point of difference has only been on Pema Khandu continuing as the Chief Minister under the NEDA.
State BJP president Tapir Gao on August 10 last, during the party’s state executive meeting, announced that it had severed relations with its NEDA partner the PPA, after NEDA Convener Himanta Biswa Sarma passed on the decision of the BJP central leaders to break alliance with PPA.
Reacting to the BJP’s decision to break its relations with the party, PPA secretary general Kaling Jerang in a statement said that the party had written to BJP tiol President Amit Shah and Sharma to remove Khandu.
There were serious charges of corruption and crimil conspiracies leading to the death of two persons in Tawang shooting incident in May last year and the 60 pages suicide note left behind by former chief minister Kalikho Pul, where Khandu has been med with grievous charges of corruption.
The Party further said the decision to disassociate with the lone regiol political party in the State from the NEDA is definitely not a healthy sign for the development of regiol political parties and the region itself. “PPA as a constituent of NEDA has always been a disciplined partner. The PPA government had willingly accommodated the BJP legislators in its council of ministers to honour the spirit of accommodative      politics,” Jerang said.
“The PPA was among the first regiol political parties to come in support of the NDA presidential candidate Ram th Kovind,” he said.  The party, he said expected that NEDA would play a much larger role in terms of all round development of North Eastern region rather than be a platform for divisive politics master minded by self-centered politicians.
“The party wants NEDA to be of more relevance to the problems of the north eastern region,” Jerang added.
