PPA favors Karsingsa site for Greenfield Airport

Itagar, Dec 02: The People’s Party of Aruchal Pradesh (PPA) has preferred Karsingsa to Hollongi as the site for the Greenfield Airport project in the State.

PPA president Kahfa Bengia stated that the three parliamentarians of the State should take a bold initiative afresh for early start of the Greenfield airport project in its origil site at Karsingsa near Banderdewa. He said that the site proposed earlier for the project is supposed to be free from any controversies relating to the viability of the project and related controversies on compensations.

The party said that the Governor and the Leader of the Opposition, in fact, opened the Pandora’s Box on bad politics relating to sudden shifting of the project at Hollongi that could involve huge amounts along with giving birth to serious controversies on resettlement of Chakma refugees.

“It is a matter of grave concern as to why the State government has taken such a decision that could put the image of the State into serious dispute. The resettlement of the refugees along with compensation would amount to giving them (refugees) the status of legitimate citizenship rights,” Bengia opined.

The party was of the opinion that many organizations are allegedly trying to divert the attention of the public towards irresponsible and controversial topics instead of raising voices on issues that could be helpful in State building exercise.
