PPA opposes parliamentary secretary appointments

ITAGAR, July 12: People’s Party of Aruchal (PPA) president Kahfa Bengia has opposed the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries in the state. Addressing a party meeting on implementation of Article 164 (1A), Kahfa said that the State government is already groaning under a huge fincial deficit and should administer in conformity with the provision of Article 164 (1A) of the Constitution. The PPA leader said the main purpose of ecting Article 164(1A) was not only to check defection of MLAs but also to limit the size of the cabinet for better governce and thereby avoid heavy burden on the public exchequer.
