Itagar, April 9: The People’s Party of Aruchal (PPA) on Monday condemned the State government’s plan to merge Tomo Riba State Hospital (TRSH) with the upcoming Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS). “The government’s decision to absorb the already serving employees in the hospital without having any distinct policy is a matter of serious concern,” PPA general secretary Kaling Jerang said in a statement. Jerang said the transition of the State hospital to an institute of health and medical sciences does not seem to be in order and in harmony with the careers of the 487 employees serving in the hospital. Stating that the entire issue does not appear to be transparent, Jerang said, “It seems the society planning to run and administer the TRIHMS is only concerned about getting the nod of the Medical Council of India (MCI) to start the medical institute, thus putting all other concerns under the carpet.” He urged the government to arrange a meeting of all political parties and civil society organizations with the members of the visiting MCI team to discuss the issue of the 487 employees currently serving in TRSH. Jerang also questioned the government’s silence on the proposed 300-bedded hospital at Pachin Colony that was planned long time back, the statement added.
