PPA terms demonetization a 'failure'

From our correspondent

Itagar, Nov 7: The People’s Parry of Aruchal (PPA) has termed demonetization of the NDA government as a fiasco.

“Demonetization was mainly to curb the black money, corruption and counterfeit currency notes used to fund cross- border terrorism. But with its sudden introduction, all sections of the society  as well as the small traders in the State were badly hit as the banks were not well equipped to deal with such an unplanned situation,” PPA general secretary Kaling Jerang said.

He said Central sponsored schemes like PMGSY and the construction of highways in the State were badly affected as it involved regular payments to thousands of workers employed in those projects. Because of the non- availability of new currency notes, wages could not be paid to the labourers on time , which is of the  reasons for the delay in completion of these projects, Jerang added.

The PPA general secretary further stated that the demonetization policy implemented by the Central government, which was considered as the greatest fincial reform to curb corruption, has failed to live up to the expectations of the people as corruption still continues in most of the departments. Jerang said: “Corruption seems to be higher in certain departments like RWD that executes the PMGSY schemes in the State.”

The PPA further added that the State unit of BJP in Aruchal Pradesh has no valid reasons to celebrate the completion of one year of its governce, for it has completely failed to check the growing corruption.
