Prabhu lays foundation stones of Rs 2,000 crore projects in Punjab

Bathinda, Nov 13: Ahead of the Punjab assembly elections, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Sunday laid foundation stones of seven railway projects worth Rs 2,000 crore in the state, and announced that Punjab would also be given the 200-km per hour speed superfast train.  “The country will soon see the launch of the 200 km per hour speed train. This train will also be given to Punjab when it starts operation in the country,” he told a gathering here after laying the foundation stones of various projects. Prabhu laid the foundation stone of Rajpura-Bathinda railway line doubling project worth Rs 1,720 crore and 16 Limited Height Subways at a cost of Rs 40 crore on various rail locations in Punjab besides iugurating Mansa-Bathinda newly doubled rail line laid at a cost of Rs 150 crore, new station building at Beas, new running room at Ludhia, Food Plaza at Ferozepur Railway Station and five water vending machines at Bathinda Railway Station. Prabhu said that Punjab would witness massive transformation in railway infrastructure in coming months. (IANS)
