Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana inaugurated in city

GUWAHATI: Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Chemicals & Fertilizers Mansukh L Mandaviya inaugurated the Regional Warehouse of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana (PMBJP) at Pamohi in Guwahati on Sunday.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Mansukh L Mandaviya said the warehouse in Guwahati, set up by the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI), would facilitate seamless distribution of Janaushadi Generic medicines to all PMBJP Kendras functioning across the Northeast. More than 5000 Janaushadi kendras with various medicines are available across the country and out of which 150 have been set up in the Northeast, the minister added. He also said that all medicines available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras are 50-80 percent cheaper than the average market price of the medicine. Delivering the welcome address, CEO, BPPI Sachin Singh said the Janaushadi stores provide quality medicine at an affordable price and the opening of the warehouse would help to supply medicines in an uninterrupted manner in all the stores of the Northeast. Among others, Director, NIPER, Dr USN Murty was also present on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, the Union MoS visited the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering And Technology (CIPET) at Changsari, Guwahati. He visited the departments, laboratories and manufacturing units of CIPET and interacted with the faculty and students of the institute. The minister also inaugurated the Skill Development Programme of the Institute today. The Minister also visited the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Guwahati earlier in the day, a press release said.
